An environmental conscience poem

Can you stare into my eyes
and declare you haven't thought
about the fate of the future?

Can you look me in the face
and say the race to save the planet
is already lost?

Do you feel you lack the speed
and that it's easier to concede
than to be crusaders?

Are you scared to raise your hand
and stand beside me
to fight the battle?

Does every pleading word I write
merely light up a candle
for those about to die?

If I beg you on my knees
will you please raise your arm
and speak out about the harm
that continues day by day
and try to stop it?
